Before Installation
1. Verify Product and Quantity: Ensure you have the correct wallcovering and the proper amount to complete the installation.
2. Inspect Material: Carefully inspect the wallcovering for defects before installation. If no defects are found, install three (3) strips and inspect again. If any defects are found at this stage, or at any point during installation, stop immediately and notify House of Parlington. Claims for more than three (3) installed strips will not be accepted. All claims must be made within 30 days of the shipping date. No labor claims will be accepted at any time.
3. Wall Preparation: For best results, prepare the drywall surface to at least level 4. Rinse the wall and allow it to dry. Ensure all surfaces are smooth, clean, dry, and structurally sound. Remove any mold or mildew before installation. Walls should have no more than 4% residual moisture content, determined using a moisture meter. Correct any moisture issues before installation. This product is intended for use in buildings designed and maintained to prevent moisture infiltration, condensation, and accumulation, especially in warm, humid climates. Maintain a temperature above 65°F in the installation and storage areas for at least 48 hours before installation. We recommend priming all surfaces with a universal mold-inhibiting wallcovering primer/sealer.
Hanging Instructions
1. Adhesive: Use a premium quality, premixed clay vinyl adhesive. Do not dilute the adhesive. Roman adhesives Eco Brand are recommended for NSF-342 sustainability compliance.
2. Applying Adhesive: Apply the adhesive to the back of the wallcovering using a paint roller. Ensure complete coverage, especially near the edges, without getting adhesive on the front side. "Book" the wallcovering for 10 minutes without creasing it.
3. Hanging Strips: Hang the first strip parallel to a plumb line or laser, leaving extra space at the ceiling and floor for any drift. For dark patterns, use watercolors to dye the seams, matching the color of the wallpaper to hide the seams.
4. Smoothing: Avoid burnishing the face of the material. Use a plastic scraper with a fabric-covered edge to smooth the wallcovering. Do not rub. Remove excess paste with a soft sponge or rag while hanging.
5. Seams: Overlap the second strip over the first strip and tape the seam underneath with low adhesive tape to avoid paste on the wallcovering. Use a seam buster from Advance to double cut.
6. Final Inspection: After installing three strips, inspect the wallcovering. If the pattern, effect, or color variation is unacceptable, stop and contact the dealer or distributor immediately. House of Parlington will replace defective material but will not be responsible for material beyond three strips or any labor costs.
