Candles
Candle care
To light a joined taper, trim the wick to ¼" from the top of the candle and then light.
To help prevent dripping, keep the candle away from open windows, fans, or any strong airflow. When extinguishing, place your hand behind the flame.
Another way to reduce dripping is to not trim the wick after it has been burned. The long, curled wick that forms should be lit as is. Please note, this differs from most other candle types.
To minimize smoking, use a snuffer to extinguish the flame.
Why beeswax?
• Naturally Aromatic
Subtle honey scent from the hive
• 100% Pure Beeswax
No paraffin, no toxins
• Handcrafted in Small Batches
Made with care, not mass-produced
• Sustainable & Ethical
Produced with integrity for people and the planet
How are the candles made?
Our tapers are traditional dinner candles, hand-dipped into pure molten beeswax at the ideal temperature with precision and care. Each pair is dipped and cooled more than twenty times before being cut free from the oak rack.
Once finished and hung, they carry a rich honey scent and appear to hold a warm glow within. When kept away from drafts, fans, or airflow, these beeswax tapers will burn nearly dripless for approximately one hour per inch of length.
What type of dye is used for the candles?
An EVO liquid dye is used to color the candles. The dye is suspended in a vegetable oil carrier base, rather than the more commonly used petroleum-based carrier oils. It is not carbon black–based.
The dyes are California Prop 65 and REACH compliant and do not contain chemicals classified as harmful or toxic. They are free from any CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic) and PBT (persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic) substances. Additionally, they do not include any ingredients listed under OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200).
Each batch of colored tapers are dyed by hand and do not use chemicals to make these colors impervious to UV. Some slight variation in color is to be expected.
What is the burn time?
Each candle burns one hour burn per inch of length.
To prevent dripping, keep away from open windows, fans or excessive airflow of any kind and place your hand behind flame when blowing out.
What is the wick made of?
Always cotton
What is the white or cloudy film on beeswax candles?
A white, powdery, or cloudy film on beeswax candles is known as wax bloom. This is a natural and harmless process where soft oils in the wax rise to the surface, indicating the candle is made from 100% pure beeswax. It may appear as a light patina or, over time, develop into a frosted look, especially with temperature changes or during storage. Bloom can easily be removed by gently polishing with a soft cloth or applying a small amount of heat.
